Instant messaging everybody on your buddy list with a link to a virus: Priceless

*Sigh*

So, yea, somebody on my buddy list, a fellow Informatics graduate, got duped and has a virus! It was even nice enough to try to propogate and catch me off guard on my Mac. But, alas, I am here to tell you I didn’t get hurt. Phew! Instead, I seemed to laugh at the matter.

What seems to make me laugh the most is that it appears that having up to date virus definitions and SP2 would have fixed this problem virus. Duh, just like doing those two things, oh, and not being retarded an clicking random links, is that hard to do. But, hey, we’re mature adults and that’s too much to ask in order to be a part of the Internet community, right? Let’s leave the retarded clicking to our nation’s 12 year olds.

1.5.1 Broke My Feeds

Now, when I upgraded to WP 1.5.1 the other day I thought all was well, but I guess the RSS feeds got busted. After reading about it as a bug, I am taking the suggested advice and making this post to hopefully fix the issue. But, we’ll see how long this lasts. I’ve tried the patches and they don’t seem to be working. I guess I’ll have to take another look at it when I get home after work.

Upgrade to WP 1.5.1

Well, I have upgraded to WordPress 1.5.1 and all was well until you tried to post a comment. This was pointed out by David earlier today. The problem was in the index.php file. It had the following line:
require('./wp-blog-header.php');
Well, on the Dreamhost servers that was causing a fit. So, since I knew that the file would always be in the same folder as the index.php file I just altered the line to read:
require('wp-blog-header.php');
All I did was take out the ./ for the relative path to the file. I think it’s silly to have it there in the first place, but oh well. Now it works and you can post comments again.

Update: I’ve let the DH dev team know and they are looking into it.

22 Hours in Wenatchee

IMG_5278From Friday night at 9pm until Saturday night at 7pm, Jamie and I spent those 20 hours in Wenatchee. The reason that we went was to go and see the Apple Blossom Parade on Saturday afternoon. This is just one part of the Apple Blossom Festival that is held in Wenatchee. Heading over to central Washington was something that I had only done once before, but the last time I did that was four years ago going from Spokane to Seattle. So, I don’t have the greatest vision of what it’s like on the other side of the Cascades. However, I had a really good time, despite the limited time that I was able to spend there.
